Profile
I am a physician-scientist with dual expertise in clinical medicine and public health. My clinical background is in cardiology and emergency medicine, and my current research focuses on resuscitation science and health systems improvement. I am pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) at Kyoto University, where I integrate clinical experience with data-driven approaches to improve patient outcomes.

Professor Taku Iwami, MD, MPH, PhD is a physician-scientist and professor in the Department of Preventive Services at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
He is a leading figure in resuscitation science, public health systems, and clinical epidemiology. His work has helped shape Japan’s nationwide emergency care system through large-scale registry studies such as the All-Japan Utstein Registry and the CRITICAL study.
He played a central role in the development of Japan’s CPR guidelines and has served as a national advisor on public health strategies, including COVID-19 responses.
Professor Iwami has published extensively in top medical journals including NEJM, JAMA, Circulation, and Resuscitation, and continues to mentor the next generation of clinical epidemiologists and public health leaders.

Note: Starting in January 2026, I will begin a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), joining the Zian Tseng Lab, a world-leading group in cardiac arrest research.
At UCSF, I aim to explore the intersection of resuscitation science, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence — particularly focusing on:
This fellowship will allow me to further bridge clinical medicine, data science, and digital health innovation across international settings.
